Practice Race: Did not race. Why? Too windy, too rainy, also starting vessels was difficult to find. So most teams decided to return to shore after some time sailing in the Lübeck bay.
And then, the official act, the opening ceremony.
Jens Kath from the Travemünder Woche, Dirk Pater, president of AS Vaurien Deutschland and Peter Lakshmanan, president of IVCA, together welcomed the 116 sailors from 9 nations and 3 contintents.
The Vaurien World Champioship flag was hoisted by Georg R., who allegedly is our oldest competitor at 73 years old.
The opening day was celebrated with the „German Happy Hour“: Currywurst and Beer, also now almost a tradition.
Tomorrow, the first races are scheduled for 12:00 hrs.
